The great majority of the land mass of Australia is either arid or sem-arid, there is very little surface water, the rainfall is low and, compared to coastal areas, there are very few rivers that actually run other than immediately after heavy rain.
In addition, coasts have useful harbours and beaches.
My opinion: Trading. There are a lot of beautiful landmarks there (Sydney Opera House). Areas in the coasts is close to the sea, which means there is more water there. Other places in Australia are very dry, and there are a lot of deserts. More people stay in the coasts because the climate is okay for them. Some places have wildfires because it is so hot. Some places can reach 40 degrees Celsius! If any1 have a better answer pls share. Oh forgot! And those areas are capital cities. More people live in capital cities.
The Australian coast has a conducive weather and supports a number of plant and animal life. It is also one of the places with stable supply of water and these are just a few of the reasons why people love it.
The middle of Australia is mostly harsh desert - where there is little water to grow food, or for humans to drink. The coasts have the most stable water sources - and so were the easiest places for the population to grow.
Because the interior ("outback") of Australia is largely undeveloped, and this on purpose, to not spoil its natural beauty and resources.
Further information:
It actually has nothing to do with spoiling the natural beauty of the outback. The simple reason is that the interior of the country cannot sustain as many people.
The east and southeastern coasts of the country have fertile land suitable for agriculture. The in edible scenery, as well as the temperate climate, make the coastal areas ideal for tourism. tourism and agriculture both generate income. the interior of Australia, while suitable in parts for farming, is not as viable. A single cattle or sheep station will require hundreds of thousands of square kilometres, and very few people to run it.
The north, west and southern coasts are not nearly as hospitable, with only pockets of land being suitable for sustaining larger populations (such as the far southwestern corner of the continent).
The interior of Australia is largely flat and dry, west of the Great Dividing Range. Little rain falls in the interior, meaning that the land supports less agriculture than the coastal areas can. While there are numerous rivers, they may run dry, while at other times they will flood, with floodwaters extending for thousands of square kilometres. The coastal areas have more temperate climates, and more opportunities for industry development.
It should be remembered that not all coastal areas of Australia are well populated. The western and northwestern coasts support few settlements, given the thousands of kilometres it covers, and the same is true of the western two-thirds of the southern coastline.
Most of the interior of the continent is arid, hot desert. There are some beautiful forested land along the coast.

Metropolitan areas of Pakistan are the most densely areas. Karachi is the most densely populated city of Pakistan.
Densely populated areas have more units per unit of area than moderately populated areas. Example: If 100 people in a store is densely populated; 75 in a store of the same size would be moderately populated.
The most densely populated area in Russia is the city of Moscow and most densely populated area in Europe is the city of Paris.
Nonagricultural areas are so densely populated because of the population size, the history, the politics and society, society and civilization.
Russia's most densely populated areas are - not subarctic, but rather they are Temperate-Continental, similar to Northern and Central Europe.

Baghdad district is a densely populated metropolitan area. The areas in the Mesopotamian region are populated at around 100 people per square mile. Anbar Province is much more sparsely populated.
