It is believed to be of Spanish decent. Nobles are most likely called Blue Bloods because their skin was not tanned from working outside and their veins looked blue through their skin. It was totally superficial. They claimed that it was because their blood had not been tainted by Moorish blood, there fore they being pure were the rightful rulers of Spain. Many nobles (probably because of inbreeding) had genetic defects including a high rate of Hemophilia which can also make your skin appear blueish.
