Because they listen to rumors and don't find out for themselves what he believes in. JFK was catholic, so what? It is illegal to not allow a religious person to run for office. Everyone has their beliefs of some sort. Remember.... By their fruits you will know them. I was horrified when I saw that guy refuse to shake Mr. Romney's hand back during the primaries. Talk about a bigot! But no one talks about the bigotry towards members of Mitt Romney's church. It has always been that way, why? People in general-when uneducated regarding a certain subject is what causes bigotry. Get educated, search it out for yourselves. People are not perfect but different belief systems should always be respected.

As with any member of a religion, it is foolish (and bigoted) to simply hate/dislike that member because they claim to follow it.

However, and this applies in particular to those running for public office where they will be responsible for creating and/or enforcing policy upon others (most who will NOT belong to that candidate's religion), it is perfectly proper to question the candidate about particular tenets of their religion and how that candidate would apply those tenets when in office.

That is, it's perfectly OK to ask questions like "You're religion does not believe in pre-marital sex. How do you propose to run sex education programs in the public schools?" However, it is NOT acceptable to state "I won't support Candidate X because his religion believes in <some idea>", without finding out how the Candidate views that particular tenet, AND how that belief would affect his/her public policy stance.

It's a fine line to walk, but remember, the CORRECT thing to do is ask about how the candidate would apply some belief of his/her religion in the public sphere. And, it's entirely reasonable for that candidate to answer "I believe in <idea> but I will NOT change public policy to conform to solely my belief." Conversely, it is entirely correct to consider a candidate unsuitable for office if they state something like "I believe <religious belief> is the only correct way to do things, and I work to make <religious belief> law."

Religion can be used to inform public policy, but specific religious beliefs should NEVER be codified into law.

What was one of Mitt Romney's addictions?

To our knowledge, Mr. Romney has no addictions. He is a religious Mormon, and does not smoke or drink or take drugs. Some of his critics might say he is a workaholic, and is addicted to work, but there are many people about whom that could be said.

Why does people hate Romney?

For some reason, some people hate other people just because they don't agree with them. Most people who hate Mitt Romney don't agree with his policies, politics, or religion.

Are the most dangerous people in the world those who have to be told what to think say and do as is the case with every Mormon which includes Mitt Romney that is why he seems artificial to everyone?

This seems to be a position rather than a question, but yes, people who take orders easily can do a lot of damage. I think someone said it a little better as, "The most dangerous people are those who think that those who disagree with them are not only wrong, but criminal." I don't know if Romney is really in that category, but I guess we should try to find out. ----------------- One of the most central doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) is that of agency. Agency is an individual's right to choose and believe for themselves. Mormons do not believe that anyone has the right to tell another person what they should think, say, or do, and strongly emphasize that belonging to the church and obeying God's commandments should be based on a strong personal conviction obtained after much study and prayer. Every Mormon would reject the notion that they are told what to think, say, or do, because they all feel that they act as they do because of their personal convictions. If someone desires to leave or disobey the Mormon Church, they may do so with very little opposition. That is their personal choice, it is between them and God, and only God may be the judge of their actions. Most Mormons can see that Mitt Romney is not a perfect Mormon, and that he has done many things which are not in exact obedience to Church policy. Mitt Romney is capable of making his own decisions and doing as he pleases. His church has no right to dictate what he does, but he has a right to choose to obey the teachings of his church. He is a Mormon because he chooses to be, not because they are forcing him to be. Even Mormons think that Mitt Romney seems very robotic. This is just his personality, and it is unrelated to his faith. Many Mormons are very outgoing and personable, but Mitt Romney has a much more serious personality.

What Romney campaign people are Mormons?

Sorry my friend but that would be an impossible question to answer. Not every Mormon living in Utah or even Salt Lake City follow Romney. One must remember that Politics is just that, Politics and each member has to adhere to Party Policies. Most Mormons would like to see him in the White House but I as a Mormon do not think that he will make it. With all due respect to the American voter I will put his loosing down to ignorance of Mormonism, and that Romney is for America and not just for Mormons.Your Australian friend

Why would any Christian vote against God in this election as God clearly has chosen Obama by killing many in a show of anger toward the Mormon Mitt Romney and his false religion Mormonism?

When did God kill people to show anger against Mitt Romney? Maybe God killed people to show anger against Obama! If you are referring to Hurricane Sandy - perhaps you should take a look at the political climate in the states most affected by the disaster. Most of them are Democratic states supporting Obama. The fact of the matter is, if God doesn't want Romney to be president, God will make sure Obama wins. God is all-powerful, remember? If God wanted to target Mitt Romney, wouldn't it be easier to kill him directly, rather than make a hurricane that affects millions of people and not him? Hurricane Sandy didn't affect either candidate much, and probably won't change the minds of voters either. The storm had nothing to do with the election.

How many Mormons will now seriously doubt that the Mormon religion is true when Romney loses the election since they claim to be in Gods favor but apparently not so their church is fake not true?

The question makes statements about the Mormon Church but asks a question that is impossible to answer. The outcome of an election, based on a popular vote is not a good reason to question a religion, whether it be Mormon, Christian or any other. In any election, all but one will be unsuccessful. There are many examples of several Christian candidates competing for a single office. The fact that a Christian does not win an election does not cause a rethink of the religion any more than Mitt Romney's loss at the 2012 presidential election should cause a rethink of the Mormon religion. However the Mormon Church will react to the outcome is a matter for the church and not for others to debate.-Another Answer-Mitt Romney is a humble, God fearing man that made a decision on his own to run for president of the United Sates. For Romney, it was not about him. It was about what he could do for his country. He felt that his experience would serve the people. Romney was not predestined or foreordained from God to run. He received no vision. It was simply a decision.Jesus was in God's favor when He was on the earth, but he still was crucified and hung on a cross. Does that make his message fake or not true? Moses failed to lead his people into the promised land for 40 years. Was Moses a false prophet? Was Job not loved of God because of the trials he had to endure? All things happen in God's time and in His way.

How is it that Santorum is more Mormon like than Romney?

Rick Santorum is no more "Mormon-like" than Mitt Romney. Both share the faith and values that are common to Mormons, Catholics, and Protestants. The difference is in the way they operate as politicians, which doesn't have much to do with their religious faith but with their personal ideas. Mitt Romney acts as a representative of his constituents and tends to be willing to help both sides compromise to find an agreeable solution for all, regardless of what his personal opinions are. Rick Santorum, a devout Roman Catholic, appears to be more likely to follow his personal opinions rather than compromise with the people that he represents.
