I've heard of this also.

True story: Pigs aren't IMMUNE to poison. You may be thinking of snake venom. It's all about size. If the pig is bitten, the venom won't be fatal because it is sreading over a larger body mass.

But, this is not to say that the pig won't be very, very, very sick.
