Well if it's a wild rabbit that you see in the wood it is because they think you will hurt it that you are a hunter. If you meant a pet rabbit it is because it wants it freedom, it wants to be able to run free and they don't really like to cuttle as dogs and cats. And of course they are really scared by almost everything

-------------------------------

As with most wild creatures a rabbit's survival instinct will cause it to run - attempt to escape - from anything they fear might be a predator.

Because they think you are going to eat them. You can get closer if you don't look them in the eye because that is something they sence that they have been seen. Just look at their tail when you are walking up, you can get really close doing that.

Rabbits generally do not attack humans. They are far more likely to run away than to attack you.

Of course, ANY animal will attack if you have it cornered and it cannot run away.

The only other time when a rabbit might attack a human is if the rabbit has rabies or some other disease that affects the animal's mind.
