It's because the locals are bailing out due to all the California money that comes their way. The houses are not worth the money that they ask. But if people are willing to pay what they ask then i can't blame them. Another good reason is because the whole town sits on top of mine shafts...sink holes open up from time to time and swallow things like buses and roads.
