Why are some CPUs faster than others?

speed of a computer depends on its hardwares configuration i.e. RAM, Processors etcs. So those computers are more faster that have high hardware configuration ( high speed RAM with high storage, high speed Processor)

CPU's vary in speed just as cars vary in horsepower. The theory with a car is the more horsepower you have the faster you can go. The same applies to CPU's, except it's measured as calculations per second instead of miles per hour. What is important is that the memory (ram) is large enough so that the CPU is not waiting on the memory. The faster the processor is the more memory is required. But that is only true if the application software requires it. Most of us do not use scientific or memory / CPU intensive graphic intensive applications so don' t be "oversold". An older Pentium 4 2.8 processor with 1GB of memory actually will do everything most people need and that technology is over 8 years old. There is also another side to this equation as well. It's called 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems. This refers to how wide the highway is for data to travel on. The larger the highway (64 lanes) the more data can be transferred. These are the 3 most important pieces of the computer performance equation. It's not just CPU speed. There is a 4th piece of this equation also. It's user maintenance.

Some computers work faster than others because they might have a higher Clock Rate of the processor as well as having a larger processing power and having larger RAM storage module. Also, the more files you have on a computer, the slower the computer works because it has to process more information.
