Sports aren't the least bit important. I suspect sporting events became important back in the old days during the Olympic games. Back then folks didn't churn out books, movies, and reality T.V. shows like nothing mattered. So that was really what they had for fun. These days, sports are not that important, except to each individual. Baseball is important to me, because I used to play. Or maybe you can't play Football, so you like soccer. Anyway, remember, sports in this country, are big business. Players get paid a lot of money, it costs a lot of money to attend a sporting event, and it costs a lot of money to put them on t.v. Follow the money, then you'll find out what's important. In America, if there's a good dollar to be earned thru sports, then it's important.
