Why are the firing orders different for the different manufacturers since all V8s do not fire the same?

Answer

This is based off the cam and crankshaft design. when the piston hits top dead center with both valves closed it fires to ignight the fuel. the determines when the valves open and close. but to sum it up each manufacture has a patent on their motor design and it can not be copied. but the old chevy 350 oldsmobile 350 and pontiac as well as the dodge 318 did have the same firing order.
