Lack of oxygen mate! Id be quick and put some oxygen in the tank or bowl, If a tank, the best idea would be to get urself a air pump (about $15-$25AUD), an air flow tap/adjuster (which is a little piece of plasic about 3-4cms long), get urself some air hose 2-3mtrs and an airstone for about $1.50-$3. The cheapest thing to do which is effetive but not the best way would be to give ur tank a 75% water change and get urself a few LIVE plants from ur aquarium, it will probably cost u between $5-%20 depending. Some plants to look out for are ELODIA- its really good with oxygenating, WISTERIA and banana lillies. You could even put an OXY BLOCK in there too, That would help heaps and would probably set u back $3-$4 extra. If you have a bowl, do a %75 water change right away and add live plants and oxy block. If u have a reasonably large bowl u can put a pump in aswell if u like. Cheers champ :oD catch!
This may be due to poor water quality which includes high ammonia or nitrate levels. Do they look like they are gasping for air? this is because of ammonia. it can be fixed by going to the pet/aquarium shop and buying a product called Prime which should be used per the directions on the bottle, but in addition to this, you need to make sure you are doing regular weekly water changes of at least 50%. This is the only way to keep the toxins in the water at safe levels.
when the oxygen level of the aquarium is lower then fishes generally swim at the top. Ensure that the air pump and diffuser is of adequate capacity and is working for a reasonable period of time during the day. Also the temperature of pond should be around 24 - 28 deg so that the dissolved oxygen in water is maintained
Different species of fish like different layers to swim around in. Some like the bottom, many like the middle, and some like it near the top.
Or - the water at the top could be warmer due to the lighting. The freshwater tank should be kept around 77 to 79 degrees, normally. Is yours warm enough?
the fish dont have enough oxegeon i had the same problem what you do is lower the water level leave the lid slightly off for more air and replace your airstone and filter if you have a heater in there turn it down slightly
Because they are waiting for someone to feed them - their little fishy brains have fiqured out that the food comes from the top.
Fish also swim at the surface of tanks (and also of ponds) because there is more oxygen there for them.
they cant breathe and are trying to get air. get a water filter. this will put water in your tank
Your fish probably has swim bladder disease.
Bettas are the only fish that can breath our oxygen so if they didn't come up they'd die
U buy tropical fish and get a background and then that is how u can do that
no tropical fish need warm water
Your fish is gasping for air because it needs air to live. if you don't already have one, I recommend getting a aerator. This allows air to be in the tank with them still being under water. The fish fuzz, I don't know about.
No. Not in the traditional definition of the tropical tank. A tropical tank is a freshwater aquarium. Regal Tangs are saltwater fish and go in a saltwater tank (marine aquarium).
why not
Probably the fish. I would not put a crab in a tank with tropical fish unless they were a LOT bigger than it was, and it was not going to grow any larger.
Use a tropical fish tank, preferably new. That way you know that it should not leak. Try to avoid using a tank that was used for something other than tropical fish. I prefer glass tanks over acrylic because they are less likely to mark or look dirty and they are easier to keep clean. Most aquarists will tell you to start off with a small tank and as you enjoy it more and more, you can opt a larger tank. When I started into tropical fish and as I bought larger tanks I used the smaller tank for breeding. Tropical fish tanks and supplies are available in most pet stores that sell tropical fish.
if you have a tropical fish or a filtered tank than yes you do need a light
Only if it has a heater in the tank other wise the tropical fish will die. They are warm blooded instead of cold blooded.
Usually there is a heater that warms the tank on purpose.
small ones
nothing!
