Because they want to see their family and they get very upset if they dont really see their family. Dont be scared of them they are just trying to see their family ! If you see one just stay calm and dont be scared they will not frighten you! they just want to see their family. *another little thing* REMEMBER-Ghosts cannot and would not want to hurt us. They have feelings just like us humans, and just want to check that their family is ok. They may just be missing their family or be a bit lonely and want some attention.
