Those are probably a food storage pest known as a grain weevil, grain beetle or flour beetle. Immediately remove it from your pantry.

If you just purchased the pasta, take it back to the store. They need to know that they have a storage problem and/or their supplier does.

If you have had the pasta for a while, toss it out. Bugs in one items can mean that you have an infestation problem. Or they could have originated from the pasta and you might have caught it before it spread. You should check your other grain products and might plan a thorough cleaning of your pantry to forestall further infestation.

Start storing your grain products in air-tight impervious containers. I like to keep my bags of pasta in large popcorn tins. Bugs like to get into food that is undisturbed, so if you have something you use infrequently, consider storing it in the cooler or freezer. See Related Links. you should probrably also take them out of your house immidiately because if you leave them they will get into cereal, potatoes etc the whole nine yards!

Is raw pasta good for you?

You can eat cold pasta once it has been cooked. Pasta can be stored in the refrigerator and eaten cold. There are no health risks associated with eating cold pasta. However, eating uncooked pasta can be problematic. Uncooked pasta has sharp edges which could pierce your tongue, throat and stomach lining. Always cook pasta before eating it. Can you ok to eat pasta raw?

In my experience, you just get it stuck in your teeth. I highly recommend cooking pasta if you are hungry. If you happen to like eating it uncooked, keep in mind that it will swell up to double in size or more depending on how much liquid is in your stomach. Stop eating long before you are full or you may be significantly uncomfortable.

What are the little hard shelled bugs found in your pasta?

Answer 1You need to find a new place to buy your pasta!__________________________Answer 2You are probably referring to the pasta that is shaped like a shell. This is intentional and is not a bug. If not ...Or your pasta may have been "invaded" by a bug called Grain Weevils. If you purchased the pasta from a store, return it for a refund or complain to your local health authority. If the weevils were not in the pasta when you bought it, you need to improve your food storage methods. However Weevils are actually rather healthy to eat, they are pure protein, which is good for you. Sailors in the old wooden-type sail ships used to eat them with biscuits. In many countries, bugs are a main part of the healthy human diet. Despite that, they still should not be in the pasta.

Why does pasta increase in calories when cooked?

I had a similar question asked to me by someone counting their calories. The problem was this: They had a 250g bag of pasta. The nutrition label gave 100grams of uncooked pasta (therefore, half a pack was 125grams). The label also gave the value for half a pack of cooked pasta which was 190 grams. The calories in 100gram uncooked was 172kcal, while half a pack of cooked jumped massively to 326kcal. Why? A quick mathematical look at this clearly showed that half a pack of uncooked pasta did not have the same amount of calories as the cooked pasta. So why is cooking pasta increasing calories, does water magically add water? A couple of weeks later, and luckily, we were eventually given information (that was at least believable) from a trainee medical student... They said that if you eat raw uncooked pasta, there is a lot of calories and nutrition that are not digestible by the human body. In other words, they go straight through your body. When you cook pasta and other carb-dense foods like rice and couscous, it alters the chemical makeup of the food (it kind of unlocks the remaining 'invisible' nutrition) and makes the previously undigestible nutrition available for the body to absorb. 'Hope that helps :)
