because most people put their undies in drawers. ----- haha also or rather first
drawers have been garments that are drawn or pulled on since 1567
whereas a drawer has been a box that can be pulled out of a cabinet only since 1580
With the full name of Boxershorts, it will be quite clear where the name came from: The Boxing Ring! During the turn of the century, Boxers (the people, not the underwear) wore full pants, but were often shirtless. I would guess that overtime, with the increase of faster athletes, they opted for less restrictive clothing, and then often wore tighter short-pants that resemble what WWE wrestlers wear today. In the 50's and 60's with the invention of sythetic fabrics, boxers wore pants made of rayon and nylong. So the Undergarment that we know as Boxers were called so because of how they resembled the shorts worn by Fighters!

Thermal underwear is called "thermal" because it keeps the wearer warm. It is called "underwear" because you wear other clothes over it.
The term comes from the practices of "drawing" (pulling) them on.
Un semainier (masc.). That comes from 'semaine' which means week. Other chests of drawers are called 'une commode'.
