It creats water pressure. Water flows from a higher place to lower place without a pump using only gravity. Once the water levels are the same you'd need a pump to transfer the remainder of H2O. The higher the start the faster the flow ( until you reach the force of gravity) and thus the better pressure coming to your home and faster the shampoo is rinsed out of your hair.

∙ 14y agoWater tanks are placed high in the air in order to benefit from gravity in providing water pressure in the water pipes; otherwise, the water pressure must be provided by pumps, which require electrical power to operate. Without the water pressure, you would get a weak stream instead of an invigorating spray from your shower head.

∙ 6y agoThe purpose of water towers is usually to supply water pressure for the distribution of the water, The higher the tower, the higher the pressure. The higher the pressure, the more water you can push through the pipes. Some locations near mountains simply use the pressure of the water in a reservoir located much higher than the community the water is being supplied to. In such areas water towers are relatively uncommon.
