The moon has to be exactly lined up between you and the sun to cast its shadow on you but most of the time it is too high or low. It has a slightly tilted orbit so there is only a small portion at the right height.

there is an eclipse, anyone may see it. But, it only comes once every 4 years. so keep a look out! :)
If you look at the sun in the eclipse it can cause temporary blindness
