Why can't you lose weight by not eating if weight loss is caused by expending more calories than are consumed? |
[Edit] |
Answer
If you don't eat ANYTHING, you end up destroying your muscle mass and muscles keep you healthy and burning calories. If you starve yourself, the muscle mass is diminished then you gain back more fat next time you start eating, and you can eat a lot less and gain weight. Eventually you destroy your health. Don't start that program, it's hazardous to your health.
weight loss
if you stop eating your body believs it is starving and so slows down your metabolism so you burn less calries than you would if you had eaten. also for the same reason your body stops burning body fat and breaks down muscle mass instead. so as you may well lose weight you will lose very little fat.
