Answer #2: The air around you is made up of gasses (Which are made up of atoms). There are 2 reasons you cannot see those gasses. The first and primary reason you cannot see it is because the gasses don't absorb light within the visible wavelength (390nm to 700nm) and therefore appear transparent. The second reason is because the atoms are so tiny and spread out enough that they can't interfere with light.
