Is pork forbidden to eat in Christianity as in Judaism and Islam?

The majority of Christians believe that the Old Testament laws were fulfilled with the sacrifice of Christ, so they no longer apply. However, not all Christians agree and some Christians do avoid the eating of pork because of the Old Testament Biblical laws about eating unclean things, especially as stated in the book of Deuteronomy about the blessings and cursings.

Christians eat pork because they follow the traditions of their culture over the commandments of God. This is nothing new. Jesus took on the religious leaders of His day for the same thing (Matthew 15:3)
If Jesus ate it, eat it. If He didn't, then don't; it's as simple as that.
Christians are supposed to emulate their Saviour, who is supposed to be their example in all things, even what to eat.

∙ 12y agoYes, many Christians eat pork. Many of the prohibitions of the religious texts are based on an early correlation with types of disease and parasites spread by eating certain things, particularly trichinosis from pork and poisoning from shell fish.
Some Christians do avoid the eating of pork because of the Old Testament biblical laws mentioning this. The Seventh Day Adventist denomination is one which observes this practice. The majority of Christians believe that the laws do not apply to them and that this law, along with others, passed with the sacrifice of Christ.

∙ 14y agoNo. Read Acts where Peter was praying on a roof and he had a vision of a sheet descending from Heaven with what the Jews called "unclean food". A voice told him to eat. Being a Jew, Peter objected. The voice said that all things that God declared clean is clean.
That same day, a Gentile came to his home and Peter showed him how to be a Believer. The Jews also didn't associate with Gentiles because they considered them lower class.
God is more concern about the cleanness of your heart.
Answer:
Eating pork is a physical act, not a religious ceremony. The Bible is the Divinely inspired and revealed Word of God to His creation - man - that is concerned with man's physical health and well-being as much as his spiritual growth and sustenance.
God's law of clean and unclean meat (of which pork is unclean; unhealthy and unfit for human consumption) was known in the pre-flood world from the beginning of man's creation and isn't the exclusive possession of the Jews, who received the information in written form a few thousand years later on this side of the flood.
"The LORD then said to Noah... Take with you SEVEN of EVERY KIND OF CLEAN ANIMAL... and TWO of EVERY KIND OF UNCLEAN ANIMAL..." (Gen.7:1-2 NIV).
In the case of Peter's vision... it appears strange that the sheet full of vile, impure and unclean four-footed animals like pigs, horses, skunks and rats, as well as reptiles, vultures and owls, which God even told Noah are physically unfit for human consumption, should apparently have their physical composition altered by God after Jesus' ascension into heaven, rendering them suddenly healthy dietary options.
As for Peter's "vision" in Acts 10... the Bible interprets itself regarding the visions and dreams experienced by its depicted villains and heroes. But men seldom bother to read and understand what God's Word truly says... and they often ascribe their own meanings to God's Word that He never intended.
It turns out that God used the "unclean" theme to convey to Peter something quite different from physical "dietary matters." It was a "spiritual" lesson.
Peter didn't understand it at first, either... but came to an understanding when He was led to the house of a Gentile:
"...Peter entered the house... He said to them: You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him. But GOD HAS SHOWN ME that I should not call any MAN impure or unclean..." (Acts 10:25-28 NIV).
Peter's vision wasn't God's okay to feed on pork and reptiles... but a Divinely inspired invitation in which Peter planted the name of Jesus Christ in the hearts of a certain household of faithful Gentiles.
So, is it wrong for Christians to eat pork?
According to God's Living Word... it's wrong for anyone to eat swine. It's just that most people aren't interested in what God says. But Christians in particular are supposed to have repented of their old ways and are supposed to be living according to the Word of God, the Bible, the Bread of Eternal Life. These are the Words of Jesus Christ, the Creator God of the Old Testament who commanded Noah regarding clean and unclean animals to take on the ark.
It stands to reason that in the five months Noah and his family floated on the water... they ate some of the seven pairs of "clean" animals in their meals... and the extra numbers allowed the species to survive and multiply on the other side of the flood. They only needed one male and one female pig, however... because they, Gentiles all, didn't eat pork.

∙ 13y agoChristianity is based on the New Testament, not the Old Testament. Christians firmly believe that a new covenant was made with God in Jesus, and it replaces the covenant of the Old Testament.
Two quotes from the New Testament, representative of this new covenant, permit the eating of any food:
Mark 7 (NIV) 14 Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15 Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.'"
Romans 14 (NIV) 12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. 13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. 14 As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. 15 If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. 16 Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall.
These represent the reasons why most Christians feel they can eat any food and even drink.

∙ 11y agoFirstly, Jews do not eat pork, the rules of Kashrut are rather strict about this.
As for the Christians, it is believed that the Vision of Peter in which God commands him to eat of all things replaces the verses in Leviticus and Deuteronomy restricting food choices.
Additional Comments:
Some Christians still follow the unchanged 'Dietary Laws' given in the Law. If one reads Acts 10 in its full context they will soon discover it had nothing to do with food but will allowing all mankind into the fold once reserved for only the Israelites:

∙ 9y agoPersonally, I do not as I believe the 'Dietary Laws' are still in place for all mankind. Others in Christianity, in particular, have been 'mislead' to believe these laws are no longer valid with the Resurrection of Christ. However, the Apostolic era and the early church circa 1-4 centuries all followed the same dietary laws Jesus did.
