Microwave ovens use microwave rays to cause the food particles to vibrate and so they heat up faster while ovens burn fuel or use electricity to produce heat. This heat then transfers to the food particles and heat them which takes longer as some of the heat produced is lost by radiation, conduction and convection.

∙ 15y agoHi there I think both of These househeld items are great and they both have their own unique purposes, such as the microwave cand do a wider range of things than an oven such as roasting but the oven seems to be better at it , but if your looking to buy one get a microwave as they do more.

There are Microwave ovens that are built in above a regular stove/oven combination and there are portable or stand alone microwave ovens that can sit on a counter top or on a microwave oven "cart" piece of furniture.
