I had something similar happen a couple years ago with my cat...first the vet tested her for any urinary tract infections--she tested negative. Then they told me to make sure her liter box was not next to anything that was loud, that it should be in a safe place all by itself--and make sure its away from their food and water....However none of that seemed to work....so finally, I went out and bought her a new liter box and added liter to it--IT WORKED! The vet explained to me that maybe for some reason she may have associated her liter box with "pain"--(for example if she had a hard stool, she may have thought the liter box itself was hurting her, etc. and she did not want to use it again.) So for me, it was as simple as just getting a new liter box.

∙ 12y agoIf the cat is male and un-neutered, it's because he's using urine to create scent markings around the house in an effort to establish his territory and warn away other male cats. If you take him to a vet and have him neutered, not only will he stop doing this but he'll also stop mating with female cats and creating unwanted litters of kittens which may meet with cruel and early deaths. So get it done.
Other reasons include a possible bladder problem, stress or the litter isn't clean enough.

∙ 13y agoMost of the time it is because it is dirty and smelly. I think (and this is just me) that a cat will quit going in the litter box because the cat is mad and you for something you are or are not doing for the cat. All cats are Libra's. they have an excellent at meting out justice.

well when u found the cats pee u take the cat and make sure you show him it is wrong give her a slap on the bottom but not to hard then take her to her litter box and make sure u clean her litter box cats r strict about where they go!

You may need a longer litter box. I bought just a plain plastic one at a hardware store or places like Walmart or Zellers. Then use clumping kitty litter and be sure to clean out the kitty litter box every day with a slotted scooper and bag it and throw it in the garbage. I've even heard of a case where the owner bought the big litter box with cover over it so the kitty litter won't be everywhere on the floor. After all, the front half is in! -_-;;; My cat was getting bigger and his left foot was hanging out of the litter box (he wouldn't go all the way in), and sometimes the peed half in and half out of the box. These things happen. That's why I got top-entry litter box! He can't just pretend to be inside or not. He has to go inside to see the litter. If your cat continues to pee outside the box even with this box, then it's behavioral problem (your cat just doesn't want to go to litter box to pee) rather than litter box problem.Simply get a litter box with taller sides.you could get a dome litter box, one with a lid. then the cat's pee would hit the side of the box instead of going outside of it.

First put vinegar on some kind of material wherever he pees. (that's a smell rabbits don't like). If he/she still continues to pee make his/her litter box a different material. Example: My rabbit used to pee everywhere, I made his bedding of ripped newspaper and his litter box of cut up corn cob. Remember don't use cat litter because it contains a toxin of silica which is harmful to bunnies. Also Rabbits usually use the toilet in the corners of their cages/
