Charles Manson didn't actually kill anyone, but his "family" killed a number of people at Manson's bidding. He was convicted of conspiracy in those murders, sentenced to die, and then had his sentence commuted to life in prison. Suggesting that Charles Manson has advanced antisocial personality disorder is probably most accurate.

Because hes a freak!!! haha, somebody should do the same to him.but he is also my hero

It is sometimes difficult to tell the difference between mental illness and evil. If possible, I think Manson is both. Manson's early years were far from normal. Born to a teenaged prostitute who could barely take care of herself. He was passed around between relatives and juvenile facilities. Rejected and abandoned by his young mother repeatedly it's not surprising he turned to crime.

It is all too easy to say Manson ordered the killings to fulfill his 'helter skelter' race war. But this was more the effect not the cause. Manson was damaged goods. He had a horrendous childhood of neglect and rejection. A career criminal, by the time he arrived in San Fransisco's Haight-Ashbury district he had spent more than half of his life behind bars. He was, and still is, an angry sociopath with a flare for intimidation and manipulation. The murders were not about a race war but a manifestation of Manson's hatred for society.

His behavior showed Characteristics of a Psychopath. He did lying frequently and was conning & manipulative. He showed poor self-control and promiscuous sexual behavior. Before the "family" he showed a great deal of juvenile delinquency. He was gifted with high verbal intelligence, but he lacked what is commonly referred to as "emotional intelligence".

Manson didn't make a conscious decision to become a cult leader. He evolved into it. Years inside the penal system taught Charlie all he needed to know to manipulate and intimidate to get what he wanted. His young friends were not nearly as worldly as he was and using a combination of fear, sex, drugs, and bits and pieces of the bible and the Beattles, they were completely under his control.
