Why did China enter World War 2?

[Edit]

China, not really one unified state at the time, had been involved in war long before WW2 started in the terms applied to Europe or America. Japan had attacked Chinese troops in Manchuria in 1931 and the failure of the League of Nations to deal with this effectively at least marked a step towards WW2 if it did not actually contribute to it. In 1937, Japanese forces invaded the coastal areas of China and occupied many major cities, so December 1941 marked a new ally for the Chinese forces, not entry into a new war. China was fiercly hurt during ww2.
