Don't you get presents in your birthday??? Well since we can't find Jesus to give him the presents we exchange them!!! ^^

No I'm just kidding. I think it's because at the same time we started counting the years, so it's not just his birthday we celebrate (personally I don't even believe in god) but we celebrate the fact that we have lived one more year and there is one more to come. So giving gifts to others is a way to saw this happiness and of course for our capitalistic society and the companies to make money (that's why we get fed up with toy advertisements every year this time).

Anyway when you get a present don't buy big fancy stuff but something he/she will appreciate.

Actually, Christmas is not Jesus' birthday. Christmas is a pagan holiday. Please refer to "The Encyclopedia Americana," 1977, Vol. 6, p.666. Also, you may want to check out "The New Catholic Encyclopedia", 1967, Vol. III, p. 656. I'm a firm believer in The Bible. Nowhere in the Bible does it give a date as to when Jesus was born. Obviously, the date is unimportant, or Jehovah God would have had it recorded, just as He inspired men to record other vital statistics.

The origin of gifts around Christmas started in the meddle ages when St Nicholas who was both rich and a Bishop became a "Gift Giver". This practice included leaving small gifts by those that could afford to do so at the home of someone who was poor and in need. The present was normally left in the dead of night to keep the identity of the giver secret.
