She was often locked in a closet and denied food, etc. when she was young. She was told how she was hated. She then brange that down to Dave and Richard Pelzer, who were brutally beaten by their mother, Catherine Pelzer.

Everything she did to him was horrible, she starved him for 10 days or several days at a time, she dislocated or broke his arm, stabbed him, locked him in the bathroom with a bucket of intoxifying chemicals, made him swallow ammonia and throw up everyday to make sure he hadn't stolen any food she also made him eat the vomit one day, so disturbing. You really should read all three books. These things are explained in "A Child Called It". They are so inspirational, what he has done with his life is amazing.
