A farm has numerous livestock and crops..that means many various things are on a farm.. so this website has facts, answers, and questions that ranges on various subjects just like a farm ranges on various animals..

Answer 2:

I believe the above answer makes for an interesting interpretation.

The abbreviation has had the meaning of Frequently Asked Questions and I believe it was the founders intention of the website to represent farming answers out of questions.

That is to say that there would be questions that would be asked and answered and out of those questions and answers people would create new questions that would get answered and the cycle would continue.

Kind of like a person that grows crops and starts with seeds and after a while they grow larger and larger until you have a great big crop, this website has grown by seeding questions and the generosity of its users to answer them that it has grown into the size that it is today and has the potential to get much larger.

In November 2006 FAQ Farm changed from being an independent website owned and operated entirely by Chris Whitten (with a few thousand volunteers!) to being part of Answers.com. At the start of 2007 FAQ Farm changed its name to WikiAnswers. Why did Chris Whitten make the decision to join Answers.com? He felt that this was the best way to enable the community to keep growing and take things to the next level technologically. There are questions that can and should be answered by human beings. But many questions have been asked and answered a million times and exist in reference books. Plus, many basic questions can be answered automatically if the right search tools are in place. When it comes to these latter sources of answers, there is no better site that Answers.com. We are working on systems that get people with questions the fastest, most reliable answers possible, and enable people who are willing to help with answers focus on the interesting questions that deserve their attention.
