During World War 2 it was very difficult for people to leave Germany, especially from the summer of 1941 onwards. Between 1933 and 1941 Jews left Germany in order to get away from persecution. Jews still in Germany after September 1941 were trapped and most became victims of the Holocaust.

Germans who emigrated at that time were looking for a better life and better prospects abroad. Their country leader was making rules that were hard to live by and Germans didn`t feel free in their country. They heard of America and thought that life would be better and easier! :)
