It may also be because he can feel others emotions. so it's possible that he felt the other Cullen's blood lust.That could have been the reason he had lost control, with not only his own but the other vampires blood lust too.(improved by: ngelina)

In "Eclipse," Jasper tries to kill Bella during a training session with the Cullens by allowing his vampire instincts to get the better of him. He struggles to control his bloodlust after Bella accidentally gets a paper cut, triggering his predatory instincts to attack. ∙ 13y agoNear the end of Twilight, James tricks Bella into going to the Ballet studio in Pheonix by saying her mother is being held there. Once there he tortures Bella to anger Edward by snapping a bone and flinging her into a mirror. Happy reading, and go Team Edward! :)
