Why did Jesus not write?

Jesus and writing

no time to write--too busy spreading Christianity through preaching

Answer

We don't know that he didn't write. He was definitely literate, because we know that he studied the scriptures available at the time, and that he discussed them with others. There is even a part in the New Testament that talks about him writing in the dirt with a stick (after he said "he that is without sin among you" could first throw a rock at the woman taken in adultery. Some Christian scholars believe that he was writing down their sins, and that is why they left.) He could have written many things, but none of them survived to today, or maybe he knew that a lot of what he said was going to be recorded by the apostles. Also, I think that the scriptures are important to him, but one reason that he didn't write everything down or tell us everything about the Universe is probably because we need to learn things on our own. We don't value things that are just handed to us. He wants us to explore and discover, and he definitely wants us to pray, and do the work necessary to have a relationship with him. He'll tell us what we want to know, if we make the effort, and go to him to ask.
