Excuse me to the person who first answered this question, but yes, Jesus did in fact say that to the blind men. From what I have heard and come to understand, the reason (or at least one of the reasons) that Jesus told the healed men to "see that no one knows about this" (Matthew 9:30) was because He did not want to cause masses of people to throng (assemble) to Him and force Him to be their King (since the people were eagerly awaiting their Messiah/Savior). Jesus was indeed the people's Savior, but he did not want to be presented as the King that the people expected -- it's the reason he chose to be crucified on the Cross.

How did Jesus prove he was the light of the world?

If a man is totally blind you can never prove to him that there is a light, and if has any sight at all, there is no need to prove it because he will see it himself. We don't prove the light but the light proves us whether we're blind or not. Jesus Christ was and still is the light of the world, and if you can't see that light, that's the proof that you are blind.
