They came in search of land ?. Well not really, they came like the Pilgrims to avoid religious persecution. This happened over 350 years ago when a young George Fox came to a bad disagreement with the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Archbishop basically said to George Fox that he could not pray to god and only a priest could pray to god for George Fox !!. This let to many a confrontation between George Fox and the Archbishop, with imprisonment for Fox.
So George Fox and his followers migrated to North America. They first settled around Easton MD and then migrated up the coast to eventually settle in Philadelphia. They created many plantations around the Philadelphia area.
The Famous Longwood Gardens in Kennett square was originally a Quaker plantation and still has the original meeting house
