Apple's CEO Steve Jobs is taking a medical leave of absence until June - due to a hormone deficiency that affects his metabolism, causing him to lose weight.

According to a company email, he stated that his health issues "are more complex than I thought, and I am stepping aside to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products."

Tim Cook - Apple's COO-chief operating officer - will take over Jobs's responsibilities while he is on medical leave.
