Why did some parents let there children work in factories during the Industrial Revolution?

When families all lived on the farm, everyone helped with the farm work. When people moved to the city, every person in the family did what they could to add to the family income.
Children worked in factories because the machines were powered by water wheels and if something on the machine broke they would not just stop all the machines for that one machine to be fixed. Because of this they needed people with small hands to reach in and fix the machines so the employers usually only hired women and children because men often had larger hands. Also children could be manipulated into accepting low wages. ( They would work for pennies a day)

∙ 10y agoThey were sought as labor because they could be paid low wages, and could fit in the tight spaces around machines.
Families were poor, and wages were very low. In order to get the most amount of money possible each week (for rent, groceries, clothes, etc.) a family needed the maximum number of people working and bringing in money. So everybody who COULD get a job, DID get a job.

∙ 12y agoChildren worked in factories for many reasons they were mostly little girls. When they moved into the city they would have to work to get more money so they could survive. Girls worked for about two dollars a day and boys got about three dollars a day( i know you girls are very angry but it is the truth that boys get all the credit while girls have to do all the work and the agonizing labor all the time day and sometimes night). The family would raise money to bring more relatives over form other countries or at least try not to get on to the streets of New York City.
The conditions were extremely horrible. Their was no air conditioning along with no heat or windows the door was also locked so workers would not take breaks whenever needed. Once there was a fire and almost everyone in that building was killed because the door was locked form the outside and there was no window but some climbed to the roof and crossed a ladder to the building next to them.
In the end only kids with rich parents were able to go to school. So the next time you wake up for school be glad that you actually go to school and don't work in a factory like these little children. I bet those children didn't know how to read or write that much and did not have a good education

if i was a worker in the factory of industrial revolution i would have lead an uneasy &hard life . by seeing the workers in the industrial revolution my life would be an miserable one & i had to work for 18 hrs per day as my family was very poor i was forced to work by my parents , working 18 hrs per day & not affording one meal per day would be very difficult for my family . thus i want to conclude with have mercy on those people who had to work very hard to get a meal i wish there would be no more revolution which exploited women & children

If their parents belonged to the middle or upper class then there would have been more time to play but those children still had their responsibilities, such as attending or school or being tutored.
