Dolly the sheep was put down in 2003 at the age of six due to a viral infection which resulted in a lung tumor. Prior to her death, she developed Arthritis, possibly as a result of the cloning procedure that created her. It is unknown whether or not she also developed other complications from being cloned that led to her premature death as the autopsy results did not reveal much useful information. She also got lung disease which was progressive.
