Lockwood came to let (rent) Thrushcross Grange. His goal is to be in the country for quiet and see nature's beauty. Lockwood states in the opening of the novel, "I do not believe that I could have fixed on a situation so completely removed from the stir of society."
Lockwood secretly tried to give Cathy a locket with a lock of Edgar Linton's hair when he went to Wuthering Heights. However, he ended up leaving it on the window ledge instead.

Nelly leaves Wuthering Heights to take care of Heathcliff's sick son, Linton, at Thrushcross Grange. She also leaves because she is concerned for Hareton's upbringing and wants to provide him with a better education and influence.
Nelly agreed to accompany Cathy to Wuthering Heights because she wanted to protect Cathy from potential harm and ensure her safety while visiting Heathcliff. Nelly also chose to go in order to supervise the meeting between Cathy and Linton and provide support in case things did not go as planned.
