The Romans believed that good health came from bathing, eating, massage and exercise. The baths were also important places of communal life. People would go there with friends and besides bathing, they would exercise (there were gyms there), have a massage (there were massage parlours) and eat together (there were food outlets or you could bring your food). Politician went there to canvas. People went to the baths between the end of the working day (noon) and dinner.
