Why did the Turkish military kill the Armenians? |
[Edit] |
Answer
The Turkish military did NOT kill Armenian citizens. During WWI, a number of Armenian revolutionary terrorist organizations were formed within Turkey. These groups obtained weapons and support from the French, the Russians and other European powers who were intent on dismembering the Ottoman Empire. The Armenians in an act of treason sided with the Russians and destroyed Turkish and Kurdish villages with the aim of ethnic cleansing these territories of non-Armenians so that they can claim it as a home land. As the Turks fought and pushed back the invading Russians, French, other European powers and the Armenian terrorist revolutionaries.
As the Turks and Kurds who managed to escape the Armenian and Russian terror campaign returned to see many of their family brutally slaughtered they sought revenge on the Armenian population. This was the aim of the Armenian revolutionaries all along. They felt that they can get European and Russian sympathy and support if they were victimized. This would enable them to carve out an independent Armenian nation out of Turkish Territory. Their plan failed when the Russians and French betrayed them.
That "I have been victimized make Turkey pay" campaign still continues today. Once the Armenians saw the reparations Germany paid to Jewish victims of the holocaust they too claimed to have been victims of genocide.
