Many patriotic groups operated out of the city, and in response to anti-British activities in the city, extra redcoats were stationed there. With the heavy penalties imposed on Boston, many natives were resentful. Eventually this led to some protesters provoking a patrol of British soldiers who opened fire and killed several Americans.

As a result you do not read about the thousands of deaths in Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia.
