There were two main groups of people who wanted to kill Jesus: Jews and Romans. Jews wanted to kill Jesus because they did not believe he was truly the Son of God. According to their beliefs, his claims to be God were blasphemous. They expected someone to come help them overthrow the Romans, but instead Christ had come to overthrow the power of sin in their lives. He was not what they expected and was not what they wanted. The Pharisees were a specific group of religious leaders within the Jews who tried on several occasions to kill Jesus. They wanted him dead because he was changing the things that they had always known for certain. They set out to memorize a set of rules and laws, but when Christ came he fulfilled the law and freed people from being bound by it. For the Pharisees, this meant that the very thing they had worked their entire lives to perfect was disappearing with a single man and they wanted nothing more than to be rid of him. Romans wanted to kill Jesus because they believed that he was creating an uprising against them. They didn\'t really care about the specific Jewish beliefs about him being God, but they knew that the Jews did not agree with their government. For very different reasons, the Romans and the Jews both set out to kill Jesus.

Jesus was killed for our sins. What is sin. SELF RULE. that is sin

self rule is when you do somethng that is out of the character and nature of God.

if you read Genesis where Adam sinned (self rule again) then you can get an idea!

everyone sinns okay? I am a Christian and I sin everyday! but I go God and ask him to forgive me and he does. Okay I am getting off subject, sorry!

He died not just for me but for everyone, The president, the lowly peasnt, and the rich person. Some people choose to take that forgiveness and live it. being a Christian!

Jesus died for us! tell me, do you think that you could be betrayed, beat to the point where your own mother could not recognize you and then above it all be hung on a cross to have your lungs fill with fluid until you could no longer breathe and die???

I would like to see you try. Someone that does that DESERVES OUR RESPECT. you know what else... He did that out of love, for the people that disrespected him and spat in his face. He loved them even then! isn't that amazing. He died so that we could have a second chance at life! so that we would not spend an eternity in the worst place. Hell. It is real. Heaven and Hell is real. The devil is REAL. I don't mean to be preachy but, there are people dying and going to hell. wouldn't you feel good if you changed someones life for all eternity. Jesus was killed for us. the people that still today spit in his face! He loves us so much. if your not a christian then I really hope this helped you. I want you to change your life. but in the end it is your choice. I hope your life. I am for God all the way.

God BLESS you! I really hope this helped!\]

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his ONLY

son that who ever believes in him will not perish

but have EVERLASTING life! Amen

Jesus loves you!

In short, they killed Jesus because they thought he was a blasphemer. In the end, it was the implicit and explicit claims Jesus made to authority, Messiahship, and God-ness, not his expansive love, that ultimately did him in. This is certainly not an excuse for our own hard-heartedness.

Strictly speaking, God did not kill Jesus. God allowed Jesus to be killed. Jesus purpose on earth was to die for the sins of mankind.

Shouldn't the name Jesus Christ be Jesus the Christ?

That is a wonderful question, but the Bible does not use much punctuation, so in reality, speaking of the grammar, it is suppose to be written Jesus, Christ. not Jesus Christ. As many references in the KJV of the Bible, is Christ Jesus, written correctly Christ, Jesus, or Jesus, Christ. It is referring to Christ.
