- It makes the Jewish people holy
- It is a taste of the world to come
- It is a palace in time
- It is psychologically healthy to take a day off and enjoy life

So that's why shabbat is a day of rest for the Jewish nation. You work for the week, and you need rest on the sabbath which is the day to rest.
