Why do Muslim women wear a headscraf?

It is customary among muslims to be often found wearing different forms of a head wear. The main reason so as to why Muslims wear a head dress is that they follow the Sunnah Muakkaddah that is a confirmed sunnah (Something that Prophet Muhammad PBUH used to do) and not only that, a headwear represents a man's social status within one's society.

because Mary ( Jesus's mother, peace be upon them) wore it. And when women are covered just think about it. will guys look at a girl who is covered or a girl who is half naked more? Its more likely they will be looking at the girl who is more attractive. Being covered is having respect for oneself and not thinking of what other people find attractive . When women are covered men find more meaning and respect in a girl. We are told in our Holy book to do this.
