Why do some Muslims kill Christians?

Muslims are not commanded to kill Christians or Jews but terrorists are commanded to kill them.

The Prophet of Islam ( Prophet Muhammad) taught that Christians and Jews were 'people of the Book (Bible)' and did not tell his followers to forcefully convert them to Islam. Christians and Jews throughout history have lived peacefully in Muslim countries, all they had to do was pay a tax. This tax allowed them to live in a Muslim country, and by paying this tax they did not have to fight in the army if the country was in war.

Since the middle of the twentieth century, terrorism has broken out from Muslim communities. Many Muslims tell us that killing is against the teachings of Islam and that terrorism can not be supported. But this terrorism is less about religion and more about the perceived humiliation of their secular leaders by those whom a small minority believe to wish to harm the Muslim world.

The Koran ( the Muslim holy book) does not support the killing of innocents. Many people including some Muslim extremists have taken verses out of context from the Koran and used them to justify their actions. If you clearly read the text, you can see that Koran actually states that Killing is one of the worst sins to commit, and it can only be done for self defense.

Where is it stated that Muslims want to kill Christians????

Muslims have two guides, one of them is Qur'an another is the Hadiths (sayings, words) of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Whatever is said there, Muslims follow them. Can you show what you claim from those two guides?

Allah (The God) says in the Qur'an that:

"God forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for God loves those who are just" (Qur'an 60:8).

And also Allah says in the Quran that: "Killing an innocent person, is like killing all of humanity" (Qur'an 5:32)

"Muslims want to kill Christians" is only a lie of the enemies of the Islam.

A good Muslim observe Qur'an commands and observe prophet Muhammad (PBUH) teachings that call for treating all people; irrelevant to their faiths and religions or genders or races; kindly and with respect. It is the biased media that is propagating this false issues about Muslims and Islam; supported by politicians and anti Islam religion; to implement political agendas in the Middle East and in Islamic countries and to limit the growing numbers of non Muslims who convert into Islam. However, the Qur'an also states that Muslims must eradicate the 'infidels' (non-Muslims). However, I should note that I do know a Muslim who is very kind to our family (we are Christians). So not all followers of Islam want to kill Christians. The extremists, however, do want to kill Christians, and because of them all Muslims are viewed as evil people.

In short, not all Muslims want to kill Christians, but the extremists do.

In reply to Answer 1, it is obviously not stated anywhere that " Muslims want to kill Christians" , but there have been so many very vivid scenes over the past 70 or so years of bombings, terrorist killings, attacks , carried out by avowed Muslims that this seems to be commonplace. - How many attacks like 9/11 have been carried out in the name of Christainity ? ?

• It is not fair to say Muslims kill Christians in Kenya or anywhere. Otherwise one can say why Christians kill Muslims in Nigeria and other African countries? and why Christians killed Muslims in Serbia? and why Christians killed Muslims in Spain long time ago as well as in Jerusalem?. Why Jews killed Muslims in Palestine? and why Buddhists kill Muslims in Myanmar?.
• Each religion has its extremist followers who don't understand the core of all religions that call for living in peace, good morals, and mutual cooperation for the benefit of humanity.

Concerning the particular goals of the Al-Shabaab group of Islamist Terrorists in Somalia (who attacked the mall in Nairobi), they attaked Kenyan civilians as a way of retaliating against the Kenyan army which held firm on the Somali-Kenyan border. Additionally, Al-Shabaab wants to threaten individuals into converting to Islam or at least avoiding conflict with it while it expands and subjugates Somalis in both Somalia and parts of Ethiopia.

Most Muslims do not want to kill anyone. For the minority who do wish to kill Christians, it is usually for political reasons: either sectarianism where the Muslim wishes to assert hegemony over a Christian group or terrorism to weaken the resolve of a Non-Muslim enemy whose citizens happen to be Christians.
