Why do US Marines wear Navy equipment? |

Well, the U.S. Marines do use a lot of Army equipment, such as the M16 assault rifle, M1 Abrams tank, and the Humvee, however, the reason for their usage of Navy equipment stems from the fact they have much closer ties to the Navy than the Army. Historically, Marines were a Navy-lead troop force who protected and fought on Navy ships.
