Why do bully like to bully?

Bullies usually do what they do because of problems they are having with themselves. By bullying others it puts them in a position of power and makes them feel better about themselves. If you are being bullied please contact a trusted adult. Dealing with bullies is dangerous and they do not need your help, you need to tell an adult.

They all have different reasons. Some are just plain mean and enjoy bullying, but others might have been bullied themselves, some might have terrible home lives and take it out on others.

It is never a good idea to retaliate. As you probably hear a lot of the time, the best thing to do is tell someone, especially teachers, but i have found in the past teachers can be useless when it comes to bullying. You can also tell friends, family or talk to professionals about you difficulties who will keep any information confidential.

Actually, the real reason behind bullying can be a lot more complicated then them just wanting to 'look cool' and, to make myself clear from the beginning, i am not defending bullies.

Bullying can happen for many reasons, and sometimes you could say its not the bullies fault. It may be the way they are bought up.

A child can be influenced by many things when they are young, one of the biggest, of course, being the parents.

Lets me give an example, if a child is watching lots of abuse at home, for example, a parent bullying the other parent, then the child may at a young age see this as correct behaviour. Children are young and ready to learn and if they see a role model such as a parent or guarding acting violently, they can easily see this as the right way to behave. As they grow, these violent actions can get more serious and turn them into a 'bully'.

Another reason why bullies can bully is if they are not getting enough attention at home and are therefore seeking more at school. If they are being neglected at home and not receiving much attention by their parents or guardian's, then they may start to seek attention in a negative way. They may be bullying to try and make themselves feel better, when actually they can just be damaging themselves even more.

I hope this answer has helped you understand more about bullies. Obviously it is a very complicated subject and again i am not defending them. I have been bullying in my past and realise that it is a terrible thing to go through.

The bullies need help just as much as the people being bullied, as there could be deeper reasons behind their actions then to just 'look cool'.


Well, many bullies usually have a troubled background. For example their life at home may not be too great as they may not be getting on well with their parents or are suffering abuse from family members. Therefore, it leads the bully to become in their own state of depression and cause them to lash out on others, maybe just because they envy your relationship with your family. Many bullies don't need punishing but help. However, their still is a percentage of bullies that bully because it makes them feel happy and proud about themselves. It makes them feel more important that you in someways, like they have a hold over you. But their is still a percent of people that bully because their friends do it and they don't want to get bullied themselves, so they think the only way to not be left out is to join in with the bullying. This is peer pressure.

Our lives as human beings are filled with competition. We compete in sports, in games, or just in getting the many different things that we want in life, such as jobs, spouses, housing, etc. No matter what you are trying to get, there may be someone else who is trying to get the same thing, who may therefore prevent you from getting it. Now, this does not mean that everything in life is a competition or that every person is a competitor of yours, however, it is very easy for people to start to think of all other people as competitors and to think of all activity as competition. And once someone starts to think that way, he or she will look for ways to defeat all other people, at all times. So if you can harm people, or intimidate them, or dominate them in any way, then you can consider yourself to be the winner of some kind of competition. Bullies derive the joy of victory by proving that they are stronger or more dangerous than someone else. To them, bullying is a game that they are winning. To their victims, it is of course something else entirely.

Im a fellow guy thats been bullied before, bullies usually do crap like that for a couple of reasons, one is theyv been bullied before and need to get it out on someone else, two is because they dont know how to interact with people and thats just the only way they can think to interact by, and lastly, because they want attention, thats a biggin, they feel like its the only way to get noticed so they pick on the little guys. And if your getting bullied, get help or talk back, if u keep hiding and getting pushed around theyl keep trying to make you break over and over , if u stand up for your self and have some courage most bullies will stop cause its not " fun" anymore. If they dont stop then, go to somebody, a friend or someone u can trust to help you. I hope this helped,
