Domesticated cats with their tail sticking straight up are signaling confidence, contentment, happiness, and a willingness to be friendly.
Wild cats on the other had usually signal confidence and contentment by sticking their tails straight back (not up).

Cats normally do not run into things, but on occasion there are cats that are a little more "ditzy" and do run into things. Make sure your cat isn't blind because that may be a reason it is running into things.
