The symptoms of Stevens-Johnson syndrome can include, but are not limited to, coughing, headaches, fevers, red rash, blisters, peeling skin, and hair or nails falling out.
Yes. Many people report problems with nails peeling during the virus's run, and more often after the symptoms seem to be gone... including up to as much as 6-8 weeks afterwards. So people often miss teh association between the virus and teh peeling. The virus and peeling can happen in children, and speaking from direct experience, in adults as well. No pain is associated with the peeling at all, but the peeling nails can get snagged on things, which of course can be painful.
The reason of nails peeling is because of calcium. When your body doesn't have the calcium it needs your nails will start peeling and they will start turning white. If you drink 2-3 cups of milk each day this will not happen. If you don't like milk 2-3 bowls of yogurt will do.

The most likely reason is a nail fungus. A nutritional deficiancy can also cause such symptoms but usually with all of the nails. A trip to the doctor might help.
Peeling out until you have no thread, driving over thorns, nails, sharp rocks, or other sharp objects. Overinflation.
