If you've seen the Swiss Alps you know that it is very hilly and mountainous. Cows often go wandering for lush grass, and so it makes it easier for the herdsmen to locate their cows by the sounds of the bells. What the they can't see, they can hear by the cowbells jingling as the cow move along.
It's just a way for a farmer or herder to know where his or her cow wandered off to so they can get them in for milking. Bells are not used today in commerical operations, but they have been and still are likely used in the Swiss Alps and in colonial times in England and New England and Eastern Canada.
Cats wear bells on their collars so you can hear them if you don't know where they are.
umm it also makes them look good and cool ^.^
They don't have lips to blow on a whistle.
so the farmer knows where they are
collars are optional.
no that's a bad idea, goats can get infected you need a spray
Some do. It is common if the sheep are in a big herd with a shepherd looking after them to wear bells. The reason for this is if a sheep is separated from the flock and the shepherd has to find them he/she can listen for the bell as the sheep moves
Banndannas, scarfs...anything they let you, really! But collars are essential- if your dog bolts at least you know if someone finds him or her they'll be safe.
something that you say to tell someone that if they are guilty of something bad, they should accept criticism Look, I didn't say who was to blame for this mess - but if the cat fits, wear it.
no cause that involves a collar and if that gets stuck on something it could choke a cat to death. That is not true, you can buy breakaway collars that will come off if the cat gets it stuck on something. Then you should put a bell on your cat so that you can hear it, and if your cat is an outside cat put an ID tag on with the bell. :)
Absolutely! There is no reason they can't wear a cats collar, a collar is a collar. Some cat collars are special breakaway collars though which means it might come off easy.
As of November 2012 Petco sells some cat collars made in USA. Read the label before you buy.
Felix the Cat Collars the Button - 1926 was released on: USA: 12 December 1926
Rabbits could wear collars. . . .. but they will not like them and will do anything to try and get it off.
Male bulls wear bells if they are castrated
no u cant
Flea collars have this aroma that repels fleas, so if your cat is an outdoor cat, it is a good idea to buy one.
Most cat collars are adjustable so their length can be adjusted to suit the size of the cat's neck. For all cats the safest collar to wear is a breakaway collars. These are designed to break away from the cat's neck if they become caught on something such as a branch. This would then allow the cat to break free and not be caught on the branch.
They wear jingle bells.
JINGLE BELLS!!!!!
They will if the cat is not lazy or fat or too small. If you get magpies in the garden, I would recommend keeping the cat inside, whether it's a beach ball on legs or not. Bells on collars are bad cos they not only drive the cat mad at night when it's rolling around trying to get to sleep, it drives people mad as well!
