Simple answer but you won't like it:

Because they were given an opportunity to chase it, and they had fun chasing it. The same reason why they run away from you-- they think being chased is fun and game.

You need to TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN. First, provide an environment that they cannot fail in (always leash, enclose, etc). If you give them any opportunity to fail (chase animals, cars, people), they will try, and learn that it's fun.

Secondly, you need to do obedience training. The "come" command is the most important one. It takes a LOT of time and efforts, but it pays off.

The other thing is you can wait till they're older 7-10 years old. That's what a lot of people will tell you. Total BS. There is no substitute for 1) providing an environment in which they cannot fail and 2) training training training.

dogs chase people because that why their owners have them to chase away bad people who try to sneak in their house or robb them or even sneak up on them and try to kill them so that's why dogs even chase people that are not even coming to up to their house they are just walking but the dog going to get up or if the dog is behind something it may jump over it and start to chase you and they also make the little kids cry because the dog is chasing htem so owner would problaly get yelled at because it cant controll his/her dog.

2.a desire to receive attention and affection from their owners

3.Dogs may also choose to chase their tails because there is physical discomfort of some type. Fleas may be present on the tip or the base of the tail.

Dogs are canids, which are coursing predators, meaning they run their prey down..Anything that flees is apt to be chased..It is a predatory response. And dogs hate squirrels too.

Dogs chase deer because of their natural prey drive. Dogs have this instinct to varying degrees. This makes them give chase when something is running off.

Why do cats run away from dogs?

Not all dogs chase cats, but there are several reasons why a dog would chase a cat. Cats that are let outside usually roam, as they have quite large territories. Dogs, that perceive the house they live in as their territory, might chase off a cat if the dog feels like its territory is being threatened. Some dogs have a higher "chase" drive than others, and will just chase animals smaller than themselves for no other reason than to chase it. These reasons do not mean that dogs hate cats. Dogs and cats living in the same household are often very friendly towards each other.
