Why do some dogs make so much noise at night time and won't go to sleep?

Dogs sometimes twitch and move because they are dreaming. But they sometimes twitch only because they are going through REM (Rapid Eye Movement). This is a very deep sleep, but even by the slightest sound they can be awoken from this stage of sleep.

∙ 10y agoYour little ball of joy is having a dream! Dogs do dream. Sometimes if they are barking in their dreams they will let out little whuffs that you can hear, just like people talking in their sleep. If a dog dreams that he is running his paws might flick a lot!
