Why are dogs tongues rough?

Dogs have a high body temperature and they hang their tongues out to let heat out through their tongues. Salivating (producing spit or saliva) helps cool the dog when its tongue is hanging out.

It's like their way of sweating.

They have no sweat glands except for on their tongues so they poke their tongue out to cool off.

Dogs stick their tongues out because they are hot. Unlike people dogs do not sweat to cool down when they are hot, instead they have a long tongue which they fill with blood, stick out and then pant air over it. The blood in the tongue is thus cooled which cools the dog.

Yes the person below is RIGHT-they stick out their tongue to pant and when they pant is because they are hot so it is kind of like sweating

Oh yah also I know this is off-subject but, tigers stick their tongue out to smell things -to capture a scent.

why use em to cool off like u kno they dont sweat so instead of sweat they hang they tongue out they mouth and pant a lot man i dont get it but it supposed to cool dem off
