The egg's buouyancy in the salt water, therefore, will be greater than its weight, so it will float. ∙ 14y agoFirstly an egg has a fatty yolk which is less dense than water.The white is probably the same density as water. There is an air sac inside which is for the first breath of air for the hatching chick. This adds buoyancy but the shell is slightly more dense than water.
Adding and subtracting all these densities it is found that dissolving salt in water increases the density of the water just enough to make it more dense than the egg components and it floats
